We grow between 120 - 140 acres of Wheat Reed and Triticale annually. We pride ourselves on the quality of the reed produced, which is grown with the knowledge gained from generations of experience. The main varieties of wheat grown are Maris Widgeon, N59 and tritacale.

The wheat reed is grown very traditionally with very little or no artificial fertilisers put on the land. After the harvest, it is stored in purpose built sheds and then combed with our own Reed Comber. Once combed the small bundles are packed into bales of 50 which weigh approximately 300kg and ready for delivery to site.

We have our own transport so that between 1.5 and 4 tonnes can be delivered at any one time. We should be able to deliver within 3-4 working days.

Water Reed

We import Water Reed from all the major export countries, including Austria France Hungry Poland Turkey.

We keep large stocks of water reed in our barns here at Winkleigh. This is to enable us to keep a constant supply for our customers throughout the year. Customers are always welcome to visit our store to select the reed they require.

Deliveries from store can be made with between 350-1000 bundles at any one time. Deliveries normally can be made within 3-4 working days.

Also full and half loads can be delivered direct from the port at a reduced rate.
